School fundraiser for ICFC a success!

June 12, 2024, Nepean, Ontario — A closing ceremony at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School marked the happy conclusion of an entrepreneurial exercise by grade 5 students from which the entire profits were donated to ICFC.  ICFC founders Anne Lambert and Tom Welch attended the ceremony to accept the cheque and enjoy a presentation led by the students on what has been a wonderful learning experience for them.

The class created "an eco-friendly company" called Climate World, developed a product ("Fidget bags"), overcame product technical issues, got seed money (later repaid), and successfully marketed the product, resulting in a profit of $672 which is going to ICFC. Students benefited from the mentorship of a volunteer businessman.

At the outset, students selected "Climate Action" as their Millenium Development Goal, and after researching ways to support this, they selected ICFC.  In her remarks following presentation of the cheque, Anne told the assembled students, parents and school staff that ICFC was honoured to be the recipient and that she was "very impressed that you as a class selected a conservation organization as a good way to support climate action.  Protecting and restoring nature is one of the most effective things we can do on climate and it brings immediate and lasting results."

Congratulations to the grade 5 entrepreneurs at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton on the success of Climate World and on contributing to something important and meaningful in terms of climate action!
