Tracking Mali’s desert elephants: a firsthand account
January 27, 2017 — Imagine tracking elephants through the arid region near Timbuktu with your senses primed not just for elephants but for poachers and Islamic militants. In a recent blog Nigel Kuhn describes the experience in words and images, and movingly conveys the awe felt by the team when encountering these “magnificent” animals. Nigel took part in anti-poaching unit run by Chengeta Wildlife, which is partnering with ICFC and WILD Foundation in protection of Mali’s elephants.
